Some congenital health problems are worthy enough to be mentioned when it comes to Boston  Terriers health.  One of the most prominent is a slipped stifle.  This is a defect of the shape of the bones on the hind legs where the knee cap rests in the grooves of the leg bones.  This will usually cause dislocation of the knee cap during walking, running or just playing.  Since your Boston terriers health is very important in their quality of life, this defect is very serious. Because the Boston terrier has protruding, or bulging eyes, they are prone to getting the eyes hurt.  A scratched cornea or other injuries of the eyes can lead to blindness or even loss of the eye.  Weepy eyes can mean an infection so care must be taken if your Boston terrier’s eyes start oozing or tearing.

It is also important to note that a Boston terrier has a larger heart relative to their size and can often be misdiagnosed by a vet as an enlarged heart.  Therefore for the sake of your Boston Terriers health, a simple blood test will show if your dog has an enlarged heart or not.

Because of the shape of the Boston Terrier's head and nose, they may have breathing problems.  For the sake of your Boston Terriers Health you should keep them indoors.  Getting too hot or too cold agitates their breathing as well as any other stress.

The Boston Terrier is basically a low maintenance dog and health problems are not usually a problem, however knowing the problems that are relative to the Boston Terriers health will help you to keep your dog feeling his best.
